Accounting is often overlooked by small businesses until it is too late. Since it is football
season, I will illustrate the accounting department using the Gridiron. Picture this: you as the owner are the quarterback, your receivers are the revenue generators, and the O-line is your accounting team. Let's say your team has done a great job bringing on star receivers and running backs (salesmen, technicians, etc.). There is no doubt in your mind that your team can be massively successful, but at the first game, you realize you as the quarterback don't have any time to get the ball into the hands of your star players.

Without a great O-line, you as the quarterback will constantly be scrambling to make a play, and when you do, it might be more due to luck than anything else. The accounting department provides the data and analysis to make critical business decisions. This allows you the time and information to make decisions to make larger plays. Additionally, the accounting department will be key in keeping track of regulatory issues. This prevents a blindside when an audit or tax season comes around. The quarterback needs his O-line so he isn't taken out of the game by a blitzing linebacker or corner.
Of course, the whole team is important, but the accounting crew should be a foundation on which other team members thrive. When the quarterback has more time, the receivers get to score. When the line is strong, the running back can gain more yardage on important downs. Unfortunately, for small businesses, the need for knowledgeable accountants, beyond bookkeepers, is growing. Most small businesses cannot afford an $80,000 - $100,000 accountant to help your team. Creation Accounting was founded to help this growing need. If you need a free agent to bolster your O-line or need to outsource completely, we are here to help. We have worked with many businesses across multiple industries and are equipped to help serve your needs. Beyond that, Creation Accounting strives to be personal; we want you to understand what is happening with your business and where you are thriving. Our business thrives when you grow!
